Cost of DISP membership

What DISP membership costs, and why it varies

Implementation costs vary greatly with the level you need and how compliant you already are. Lodging an application is free. The gap analysis shows exactly where your costs will fall.

Step by step

  1. Step 01

    Initial consult

A complimentary, obligation-free meeting to confirm DISP suits you and which level you need.

  2. Step 02

    Gap analysis

An audit of your current compliance and capability gaps across the four domains.

  3. Step 03

    Costs confirmed

With the gaps known, your implementation costs become clear.

What drives the cost

Your company may already meet most of the requirements for a level, or need significant work in some domains but not all four. The higher the level, the larger the scope: Level 1 adds time, complexity and risk, and Levels 2 and 3 expand the project considerably.

How we price consultancy

All DISP consultancy pricing is specific to your company, because organisational risk factors vary significantly.

  • Entry Level: a fixed-price, all-inclusive package, with standardised base costs in line with Defence's suggested estimate
  • Level 1: priced after the initial consult, once we develop your risk profile
  • Levels 2 and 3: custom packages
  • [Awaiting whether prices or price ranges should be published]

Costs beyond consultancy

At higher levels, the biggest costs are often in your own systems rather than in consultancy. They can include:

  • IT upgrades: licensing, servers, migrations and implementation
  • Physical security upgrades: locks, safes, access controls, audit and certification
  • Employee training
  • Regular compliance audits
  • Third-party certification of IT or physical security, which tends to rise with company size and number of sites

Why consultancy pays its way

Defence does not charge to lodge a DISP application, but specialist advice has value of its own. Our consultancy has often saved clients tens of thousands of dollars in IT implementation costs, reduced risk, saved executive time, streamlined applications and prevented lengthy recommendations from Defence.

What each level includes

Each level builds on the one before it. Higher levels adjust every deliverable to stricter requirements and add their own.

Questions

All questions

  1. How much does it cost?

Entry Level is a fixed-price, all-inclusive package. Higher levels are priced after the initial consult. [Awaiting whether prices or ranges should be published.]

  2. How are consultancy costs calculated?

All DISP consultancy pricing is specific to your company, because organisational risk factors vary significantly. For Entry Level we have standardised base costs in line with Defence's suggested estimate. For higher levels, we price the work after the initial consult, once we have developed your risk profile.

Your implementation costs depend on how compliant you already are. You may already meet most requirements, or need significant work in some domains but not all four. The gap analysis shows where you stand, and at that point your costs become clear.

  3. What does Level 3 compliance cost?

It varies significantly with your current security posture and the work needed to close the gap. Costs can include IT upgrades (licensing, servers, migrations and implementation), physical security upgrades (locks, safes, access controls, audit and certification), employee training and regular compliance audits.

Certification of IT or physical security is among the largest costs, and it tends to rise with company size and complexity, for example operating across multiple sites rather than one.

[Awaiting confirmation of whether an indicative Level 3 cost can be published.]

  4. How long does it take?

[Awaiting typical timeframes per level from the business.] Every project has a predictable timeline agreed up front, with weekly or fortnightly progress meetings.

  • DISP application process

Our process for implementing DISP's requirements is thorough and systematic, with clear objectives, fixed pricing and predictable timelines at every step.
